I'm Sandy McFall, manager of the Northwest Colorado Sanctuary of the Colorado House Rabbit Society. We recently switched from Satellite to Sanctuary because people are returning their rabbits right and left, and I finally realized if I am to be personally responsible for every rabbit we've ever adopted in Grand Junction, I had to stop taking in bunnies, and stop adopting them out. Sad, but self-preservation had to factor in.
We have 22 beautiful souls living here now who will live out the rest of their lives at the Sanctuary, along with any further relinquishments. The bunns have a good life here, it's just not what we wanted for them. Many of them live in threesomes and foursomes, which gives them a richer life experience. They all go play outdoors for a couple hours ever day while we are doing bunny chores. As bunnies go over the Bridge, we will attempt to pair them with existing groups so they will always have friends for grooming, comfort, and love.
We are happy to have the hopline as a resource, and look forward to using the website often!
